Spokane Desi Indian Women's Club, grounded in the simple, powerful spirit of sisterhood. 💜

Updated: Mar 9

Why Celebrate Womanhood?

It reminds us of what women—and communities of women—make possible. 💜

It honors women’s often unseen work sustaining families, culture, knowledge, justice, and care. 💜

It recognizes the resilience needed to navigate a world where gender shapes opportunity and safety. 💜

It affirms that women’s identities are diverse and self-defined, beyond society’s assigned roles. 💜

An International Women’s Day 2026 celebration envisioned by the visionary community leader Sowmya Surapaneni, and brought to life by a group of liberated women from the Spokane Desi Indian Women’s Club, became a heartfelt tribute to the spirit of womanhood—celebrating resilient, go-getter, changemaker women who continue to evolve and redefine who they are, first for themselves and then for the many diverse audiences in their lives.

Six hours filled with creative activities, heartfelt storytelling, and cheering one another on—along with a delicious potluck—created meaningful moments to cherish. What began as a gathering soon turned into a never-before experience for everyone, ultimately celebrating the spirit of sisterhood.

Why Trust the Power of Sisterhood?

Sisterhood reveals women’s strength in supporting each other—sharing wisdom, lifting one another, creating space to be authentic. 💜

The Spokane Desi Indian Women’s Club is organically evolving into a vibrant women’s hub—one where mutual respect is paramount. Free from hierarchies, favoritism, bias, or judgment, it is grounded in the simple, powerful spirit of sisterhood. 💜
