Founded by Shweta Green, a Costume Designer with Indian roots, Sew She Can, a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization, blends mentorship with real-world production experience — from custom clothing to film wardrobes and boutique interiors. Whether you’re threading a needle for the first time or reawakening old skills, the space is welcoming, intentional, and deeply empowering.
“When I joined Sew She Can, I was mostly translating for other Afghan women — I didn’t realize I would fall in love with sewing myself. Shweta saw something in me and helped me build my confidence, one stitch at a time. Now, I work with an interior decorator and sew for boutique hotels around Spokane. My work is in rooms people rest in — that feels powerful.” — Massuda, former student & translator.
